Another brilliant lyric by my brother, Dr. Peter Fields. This one really did write itself, all I did was pick a key. The electric guitars are the strat-copy, and the acoustic guitar is the Nagoya. There are two drum tracks, one for the beat, and one for the fills. This is probably my own favorite bass guitar performance out of all of our songs (I also really like the acoustic guitar part here as well). Additionally, this is probably as close to a jazz-like lead guitar that I've played and I like the harmonics achieved as well as some of the doodling during the early parts of the song.
The lead vocal was done after a long summer day working in the attic-insulation, and I sound as out-of-breath and tired as I felt, but to me, it seems to work for this song, I especially like the vocal at the end.
It was really good...having the land back us up for a while...the way it did way back when,
and it was really fine, a bird that flew up and out of sight, up and over our heads.
Tell me, did I tremble at the words: "God's last put out the light"? Tell me, did I tremble at the words: "God's last put out the light"?
Late and lost, 4th and south, Out of the Picture and Motorcades...Bobby back again for a little while.
Rockingham and Bellows Falls, Arch Bridge, the day it came down, you and the story, so happy like a child.
Didn't mean to be the one to say goodbye.
Didn't mean to be the way I was, unkind.
Everlasting tides, the car and the way, northward to Vermont.
Route 7 and the crying in your hands, sweet one, not for long...
Even better times I'd like to find you, discover all over again...
Even better times I'd like to find you, discover all over again.
I loved you in my heart and in my way
changing lanes, but never friends...
Even better times I'd like to find you, discover all over again...
Even better times I'd like to find you, discover all over again.
